Hello friends! Today I want to talk about something that I have been very transparent about, and that is my struggle with comparison. Now I have a daily battle with comparison and insecurity, and I have come to realize that everyone does. The enemy LOVES to tell us that we are alone and that no one else feels this way, but let me tell you that you are not alone in feeling this way. I have dealt with this feeling my whole life, but I always got over it quickly. I avoided the feeling.
Avoiding only lasts for so long, and it finally caught up to me. When I started my podcast I was so excited, but then some of my other friends started their own. I started comparing myself because theirs was more popular or “successful“ right off the bat then mine. I became insecure and I started doubting if this was what God really wanted me to do, but then he revealed to me that this was a sort of test to see if I would give up immediately like I have in the past or would I lean on him and let him do what he does. I have decided to lean on God, and give him all of my comparing thoughts and insecurities.
Whether it is in the most mundane or the most outstanding ways, comparison and insecurity can weave their way into your life, and all of a sudden you’re jealous and bitter at someone who did nothing to you. Lisa Jo Baker speaks on this in her Bible Study We Saved You A Seat: Finding and Keeping Lasting Friendships. She talks about how friendships break apart because one person gets jealous and bitter at their friend. You may think your friend has the perfect life and everything that you don’t have, but that is very wrong. Don’t compare yourself to what you perceive a person to be.
And with that I bid you people goodbye! To quote two very wise people, “God made you special, and he loves you very much.” Yes I just quoted Larry the cucumber and Bob the tomato from VeggieTales. They are truly the philosophers of our generation. 😂😂
Be Blessed and Highly Flavored, friends!
